Cryptsetup trouble with Debian Jessie - Unable to use (100% sure) passphrase
Hi cryptsetup fellows, A fresh Debian Jessie has been installed with LVM and standard cryptsetup for the only volume (on a Core 2 Duo PC) After months without any problems, it is now asked to enter the passphrase. But now it is no more recognized. I'm 100% sure of the passphrase. The last system update should date back from feb-may 2017. I've no more details about the exact setup (just : Jessie, "recently updated")
Possible cause IMHO : 1/ a BIOS trouble put the machine back to date 2018.01.01 and this could have modified UUID (or maybe not because using LVM ??...). 2/ a GParted USB has been used to boot in order to modify ANOTHER 100% Windows 7 disk ; the LInux Debian disk has normally never 3/ some keyboard/locale configuration may have changed (various characters are used : capital letters, and special or accentuated characters). Throughout different forums, I can see that this has already occurred to some people after a simple kernel update.
We've done NOTHING before writing this email. I stay relaxed and confident ;)
QUESTIONS 1/ What should we do to fix that? 2/ During Debian encrypted setup, what should be done in order to prevent any device or BIOS default ?
Thanks Best regards
