Build, release and support "F-Droid Light"
(For background info, see this issue on fdroidserver, there is also an article on the wiki)
I think we should release and maintain the last version of F-Droid to run on API level 3, for those people who choose to hold onto old devices rather than upgrade to newer ones. I commend people who are able to prevent wastage by sticking with an older devices, and I'd love to see them still have access to F-Droid.
I'd be happy to provide bugfixes, given that the number of users would probably be low, and thus the volume of bugs submitted against the legacy version should be smaller.
However, I'm not quite sure the best way to go about it. Currently, we could probably point people to the download of the stable version 0.43. I can't find a download link for that though, and it isn't present in https://fdroid.org/archive/index.xml (only 0.42 is, so maybe that instead).
However, as soon as a bugfix is applied, then I don't quite know how to push out those changes to people. Hence, the idea of a different app called something like "F-Droid (legacy)".
Any discussion or ideas are welcome, although I'd ask people to refrain from comments such as "why would you want to do that, most people don't have old devices". I strongly believe that we should support every single Android user if possible, and I don't think it would add much work to my plate if I made myself responsible for providing bugfixes on old devices.
