Added 1 commit:
- 4b8ecc39 - marcia's review and suggestions
On my review/suggestions (https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/www-gitlab-com/commit/4b8ecc39a7285d4c3228605e93672eb76124c614):
- Added some links to support the statements
- Added a note at the beginning to let the readers know what's this series about
- Applied emphasis to a couple words
- Changed one of the examples listed at the end: from Comcast Cable to Ebay => there was a lack of references on Comcast, which were much more evident for Ebay, a very well known company
- Changed the last line, giving the reader a heads up on the next post's subject
To be changed (or not): cover image - perhaps an image that represents "innersourcing"? Or let's keep the default GitLab logo image?

@virtuacreative What is the connection between Microservices and Innersourcing? Same for other topics in this series?
@dblessing Drew, this is a series originally on "Trends in version control land", https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/blog-posts/issues/125. But I was brought into this just a few days ago, so I think @amara will probably have more info for you on the entire context.
Edited by username-removed-236961This content came from Sid being interviewed by our writing team. They are all on interesting trends we feel are rising across the industry. We should return the title to being about trends, especially since only one post is on innersourcing. My thoughts on the post are that it is too light. I think to make these explorations valuable we will need to add more information, data, and predictions. Marcia, we can chat more about this but just to share my initial thoughts here, I think this post could be improved by adding:
- Exploration of early cases of microservices (is there any one or team who can be credited for leading the way?)
- Data on why microservices taking foot
- Tangible use case that outlines the benefits of microservices (like Netflix: http://techblog.netflix.com/2015/02/a-microscope-on-microservices.html but of course they used their own business as the case study)
- Predictions on what's next in the world of microservices
Edited by Amara Nwaigwe@amara yeah, let's talk about this series tomorrow :)

@amara, the last version of the Google Doc has been added to the markdown file. Scheduled to publish on Aug 16th, next Tuesday. Please double check.
Reassigned to @amara
Added ghost label
I know you review in the Google Doc, but I had reviewed in the markdown file before your review, so I had to merge both reviews. That's why I thought would be better double checking. I'll ping you on the diffs to point to a couple edits.
This is the post which has that extra section you were willing to ask Sid to add.
1 --- 2 title: "Trends in Version Control Land: Microservices" 3 categories: concepts 4 author: Sid Sijbrandij 5 author_twitter: sytses 6 description: "Learn some benefits of microservices, and check out who's using it!" 7 image_title: '/images/default-blog-image.png' 8 twitter_image: '/images/tweets/trends-in-version-control-land-microservices.png' 9 --- 10 11 One trend of the last few years is microservice architecture. In this post we’re 12 looking at what that is, and what some of the benefits and drawbacks are. 13 14 **Note:** This post is the third of the four-posts series on **Trends on Version Control Land**, after [Innersourcing][post-1] and [Release Early, Release Often][post-2]. 15 {: .note} @amara this note of my edits
