I attempted to find better links to provide here. Confidence gap, impostor syndrome, these terms and concepts come to mind. There is a lot of blogging and speaking about how this applies to men/women, and represented/underrepresented groups, but many of those blogs point back to an internal report from Hewlett Packard that reportedly discussed confidence differences between men and women (i.e. no extrapolation to underrepresented groups generally), and similarly that is the topic that most of the papers deal with , that I could find on google scholar. My search was not exhaustive though....
