500 error when forking or creating merge requests

We have a main repo which we can no longer fork or create merge requests to.

When we attempt to create a fork of https://gitlab.com/canadian-blood-services/donor-web-portal It dies and doesn't create the fork. If we try to do so again for the same user, it dies right away.

Also when we try to create a merge request from one of our forks (eg https://gitlab.com/kathryn.garson/donor-web-portal) to the main repo, we get a 500 error. If we create a local merge on the main repo or any fork, it shows that there are merge conflicts when there are none.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@stanhu !1231 (merged) does not address the failed merge requests from existing forks, as far as I can tell.

@N3X15 Yeah, someone has to go clean that up at the moment.

@kathryn.garson I'm able to fork donor-web-portal again after git fsck, git gc and needed to remove the fork leftovers on my namespace where I tested this, could you please test it? And if you tested the fork in the past with a specific account then I need the name to do some fork leftover cleaning.

@jnijhof can you look into the case of @N3X15 ?

Mathew Winstone (@minorOffense) and Robert Cummings (@InterJinn) have tried to fork the repo at https://gitlab.com/canadian-blood-services/donor-web-portal and will need the cleaning.
