Can not clone repo using LibGit2Sharp after upgrade to version 8

After upgrading to version 8 I'm receiving the following error when trying to clone a repo using an http url.

This worked prior to upgrading to version 8.

The error message is:

An unhandled exception of type 'LibGit2Sharp.LibGit2SharpException' occurred in LibGit2Sharp.dll

Additional information: Received unexpected content-type

I believe that this issue is related to #2727. I used the omnibus package to install gitlab on an existing server and have a custom NGINX config file.
