SSH clone from Gitlab-CE asks for git@www.example.com's password
Hi. I have been racking my brain over this for about 12 hours searching all corners of the internet.
I am using the Gitlab 8.2.3 Omnibus installation on a Debian8 system. I have added 1 user to my newly installed GitLab-CE installation and followed the instructions on how to add a pre-shared SSH key to my account. The key was entered successfully and appears on my users profile as well as in the /var/opt/gitlab/.ssh/authorized_keys text file, with no new lines or anything like that.
The .ssh folder is owned by the user git
When I try to clone from this system using git clone git@www.example.com:username/project it prompts me for gits password. The user git has no password. If I hit enter a few times it turns away my request.
I am able to user http:// to clone. I would like to use SSH though.
I see nothing in any of the logs that would indicate that an SSH clone attempt was made, or has failed.
