Import existing git repositories via ssh:// or git://

I am unable to import an existing repo from gitolite -> gitlab when creating a new project with this url schema:

ssh://git@host.com:repo_name.git

I receive error: "Import url should be a valid url"

I am using bitnami stack version of gitlab: 7.6.2

This is not supported right now. However there are instructions:

The repository must be accessible over HTTP(S). If it is not publicly accessible, you can add authentication information to the URL: https://username:password@gitlab.company.com/group/project.git.
The import will time out after 4 minutes. For big repositories, use a clone/push combination.
