Suggest to people who are not logged in (NLI) that a search feature exists

Gitter has a nice search feature but you'd never know it exists the first time to land on the website. Perhaps the standard magnifying glass icon could be added to the top of every page and when you click it when you aren't logged in, it could say "Please log in to search". (We do a similar thing at https://demo.dataverse.org where we have an "Add Data" button that prompts the user to log in to proceed.)
