Markdown parser issue with italics + links with * / _

Entering _[Underscores in link](https://www.google.com/#q=a_thing_)_ resolves to _Underscores in link_

Re: 6.4 Emphasis and strong emphasis under GitHub Flavored Markdown Spec, you should be able to achieve what's required with * in lieu of _ for emphasis.

The markdown parser still fails if there is an asterisk in the url. *emphatic [example](http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22_*Big+Bird∗%22) …* resolves to *emphatic example …*

Also, to be clear, the markdown expression renders as expected on GitHub posts, it only fails in the Gitter chat

Seems to be an issue in general with nested pairs.
