Backups should work out of the box and be easy to configure the time and frequency of. This attempts to accomplish that goal.

I am leery of alpha features. Is this still an alpha feature in k8s 1.5.2+, now default on new GKE instances ?

In v1.6 it is afaik still alpha. It most likely is pushed to beta for 1.7. There is a workaround using: https://github.com/wercker/cronetes
