@randx & @senny can we merge into 5-2 branch also to fulfill https://github.com/gitlabhq/gitlabhq/pull/4323? Also we might consider updating backup script so it doesn't fail when dir missing.

@bbodenmiller I had a patch ready for the backup script but when I asked @randx he preferred to go this way, by documenting. I am for the fix in backup.rake, in any case.
