Thanks @chris1201, I think we need to add a line in our release process: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/release-tools/blob/master/doc/release-candidates.md#step-1-update-the-installation-from-source-guide (we have a line to set gitlab-workhorse version but not gitlab-shell...

Hmm, I was wrong (I was looking at the wrong paragraph), we already have this step: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/release-tools/blob/master/doc/release-candidates.md#gitlab-ce. I don't know how I missed it! :)
